The first piece for my Degree Project, entitled, "The Atrocities of Bangladesh". I used a photo reference of my mother during her wedding day in Bangladesh for the pose and thus, as the key central figure.
She represents the pride and the mother figure that I feel the people of Bangladesh envision when thinking of their homeland. The lily pad that she sits on and the lotus she is holding are to represent the national flower and further the pride motif.
This piece was done with chalk pastel on toned paper.
